HELP US BUILD THE VOCATIONAL & OUTREACH CENTERS

Shepherd’s Field’s children’s home expansion is on schedule to be completed in the spring of 2008. The three new homes will allow us to care for more children and expand our outreach to special needs teenagers ages 12-18 who have no families of their own. The prospects for these teenagers is often more desperate than that of younger children, as they are no longer eligible for adoption. By the time they reach fourteen, they’re typically moved from the orphanage to an adult institution where they will spend the rest of their lives. In 2008, Lord willing, we will begin building a vocational training center for these teens to help provide them with life and job skills, thereby improving their chances for a hope and a future. In order to finish the major construction of the vocational center we need to meet the following financial targets.
March 15, 2008US$38,000
April 15, 2008US$38,000
May 15, 2008US$50,000
Aug 15, 2008US$50,000
Nov 15, 2008US$76,000

Please help meet these targets by making a contribution to the "Shepherd's Field Children's Village Building Fund".

HELP US WITH THE 3 NEW CHILDREN'S HOMES' INFRASTRUCTURE

Each of the three new children's homes needs to have the infrastructure including the electrical cables, water pipes, sewer pipes, telephone, and heating pipes installed and connected. The cost is US$11,000 per home. So far we have received pledges of US$11,000, enough to complete one of the three homes. We need to raise an additional US$22,000 to hook up the remaining two homes. Please help meet this need by making a contribution to the "Shepherd's Field Children's Village Building Fund".

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Therapy Program Director:

We are searching for a full-time SLP, OT, PT, or Special Education teacher to help develop our therapy program. Our children have a variety of conditions that are physically and developmentally disabling, including cerebral palsy, hydrocephalous, limb deformities, and physical & mental delays. Our current SLP, Carrie Mills, has been collaborating with people all over China and the U.S. to develop a therapy department at SFCV in which she works to train local staff to provide therapy to these children. As she hopes to return to the states at the end of 2007, we are in need of a replacement therapist that could come for at least a year. We will provide reduced housing, utilities, and one meal per day, but all foreign staff raises support (about US$200-400/month). If you are interested in serving our precious orphans, please contact Carrie at Carrie.Mills@ChinaOrphans.org.
